North American Session

Forex’s around-the-clock nature means that trading goes beyond just the business hours of each individual city. The trading day is divided into three sessions: the Asian, European and North American.

The North American session is the final session of the trading day and the last session before the weekly close on Friday afternoon.

The bulk of its volume originates from NewYork, however other major trading centres such as Chicago and Toronto are also active. The North American session opens at around 12 pm GMT (overlapping with the European session) and closes at around 8 pm GMT.
