MXN
MXN is the currency abbreviation for Mexico’s official currency, the peso. Usually represented by $ or Mex$, the peso is made up of 100 centavos.
When translated, the name means ‘weight’ and it refers to gold weight. Interestingly, the peso played a huge part in economies of North America and the United States in the late 18th century.
It was widely used as a benchmark, reference point and as the main currency of choice even after the introduction of USD bills.
