Loonie
The Loonie is the affectionate nickname used to refer to the Canadian dollar. Like New-Zealand’s Kiwi, it takes its name from the loon, a bird that appears on one side of Canada’s one-dollar coin. A colloquial term that originated in the forex trader community and has subsequently gained popularity with foreign exchange.
