Hawk

A hawk is a central banker or economic policymaker who is in favour of tighter fiscal policy and higher interest rates.

Hawks are generally more concerned with keeping inflation at bay than they are with the idea of growth at all costs. When a central banker or policy advisor makes public statements to this effect they are described as being “hawkish”
